Instructions and Tips for using the Pre-Milled Soap Base

This makes approximately 500 grams of Soap

1.  Place 341 grams of pre-milled soap in a stainless steel saucepan. Make sure that the saucepan is not too big as you want your soap to melt slowly without burning.

2.  Add 255 grams of water.

3.  Gently Stir the soap and water just enough to mix them.

4.  Place the soap on the stove with low heat. Your goal is to heat the soap gradually without it reaching boiling.

5. Stir soap only enough to make sure the soap is not sticking to the bottom of the pan. You don’t want to over stir it and create suds. Allow the bottom layer to heat up and then fold it over to the top and let the next layer heat up. From time to time you may need to add a bit of water.

6. When the soap has completely liquefied (this could take an hour) remove it from the heat and stir it gently till it’s between 66-71 degrees centigrade.

7. Just before pouring it into the molds add your color, scent or additives. It will be helpful to lightly grease your mold with vegetable oil.

8. Allow the surface of the soap to skim over and then place your soap in the freezer. When they have frozen solid remove them from the molds.

9. Place the soaps in a dry warm place. Turn them regularly until they are completely dry and hard.
